Monas: The Tower of Eternal Flame Rising Above Jakarta’s Skyline

Monas (National Monument) is one of famous historical site in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is one of the symbolizations of the country. The tower of Monas tells the story of the effort of Indonesian people to fight against colonialism.
Monas was built to commemorate the resistance and struggle of the Indonesian people in gaining independence from the Dutch colonial government. Construction began on August 17, 1961, under the orders of President Soekarno and was officially opened to the public on July 12, 1975 by President Soeharto.
Monas is located in the center of Medan Merdeka, Jakarta. The rope is approximately 132 meters with a large square under the rope. In the rope, there is a flame with a sizeable gold foil attached to the tip. The flame says that the spirit of this woman never dies. The monuments consist of several items. It includes the base of the rope, the museum, and an observatorium.
Inside of the monument there is a diorama, the moderate events to rebel, and Indonesian's freedom success. The travelers often attentively observe what it is about. This space is officially used as a recreational and educational area.
Visitors are usually standing outside, take a photo, and sometimes use to approach its interior. In general, Monas is an excellent building with ornaments that give the impression of high art about freedom.
